CAPSTONE PROJECT FINAL PROPOSAL

 

       1. Explain your finalized idea for your Capstone Project.

• For my finalized idea for my Capstone Project I would like to emphasize my take on being Asian American. Being born and raised in San Diego, California, I am very in touch with my beloved American/SoCal culture. I also am extremely fortunate to be born and raised by both my Tawianese parents. They have taught me so much about my Tawinese and Chinese heritage. My capstone project is going to portray the heritage and culture of my roots. Both my American and East Asian roots have really inspired me to create artwork to share with others, to understand in sight of the feeling of cultural blend.

 

       

        2. What are your learning goals for this project? By the time you complete this project what will you have learned, discovered, practiced, and be able to do? Explain in detail.

•  A main big difference I have seen in the cultures is landscape. When you see something for the first time, appearance is something you catch on to first. When I go somewhere or remember something I always think about landscapes (surroundings). I want to dive into the blend of artworks and landmarks from my both cultures. Landscape blending of photos is what I will be focusing on. I also liked the fact of how we are able to be in charge of our own creative control of what we wanted to do for our capstone project. This is great since I feel like I can learn and express myself in depth with 100% control of my art. By the time I finish the project I hope to grow more appreciative of my cultures and how they blend together so well.

       3. What skills will you demonstrate through the execution of your project? Explain what they are and how they will be demonstrated.

• To execute my project I would love to really emphasize the fact of blending my cultures together with landscapes. I will use blending techniques to add landscapes together. Specifically, I will use landmarks to show cultural blend. Taking famous landmarks/landscapes and photoshop them together will create another piece of art. Demonstration of photoshop and blending skills will be utilized into the artworks.  

 

       4. Explain your strategy for completing your project. List the steps you will take to accomplish your learning goals and execute your artwork/photographs successfully. Include a description of your process, how you will research, investigate, and experiment.

 

• My plan is to take high quality photos from stock photography to blend them together in photoshop. Some will be added to landmasses, some buildings/landmarks, and some object of simulation to culture. 

• I will examine photos first to see if they represent what theme I am going with

• Then I take specifically 2 photos (to really emphasize the 2 cultures I am tied to and what I want to represent)

• Then take the appropriate measures to strategically combined and blend the photos

• Add finishing touches to make my art realistic and seem well blended on top of the emotions in the overall artwork       

 

     

        5. Explain what you will need to do to create your artworks or photographs. List the steps you will take in your process from the beginning to the end of the artworks or photographs in your project. Be very specific when describing your process. Include everything from sketching to equipment you might need, locations you may travel to, techniques you will need to execute, people that may need to assist you, an estimate of the time each step may take, etc.

• I will first examine which approach I would like to take blending photos and how the photos will show my theme

• To execute this project I will need to really understand the photos I will blend in order for me to get to tell a story behind it

• Techniques of blending will be used to blend the artworks to show my ongoing theme and interests

• I will slowly use my time to make sure all the artworks are vividly expressing the emotions I want to portray in my artworks and as well as techniques to show my advancement in the artwork

• I want to find landmarks that remind me of Asia (specifically Taiwan) and the USA (SoCal/California)
